Law Enforcement Guidelines

Last updated: 26 August 2026

1.

Purpose

These guidelines explain how authorised law-enforcement agencies may submit requests for information relating to Sakinah Spouse users. Sakinah Spouse is operated in the United Kingdom and responds to valid legal requests in accordance with applicable UK law, including the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR.

These guidelines are intended for authorised law-enforcement officials only. Members of the public requiring support should email helpsakinahspouse@gmail.com.

2.

Submitting a law-enforcement request

Authorised law-enforcement officials should submit requests by email to:

helpsakinahspouse@gmail.com

Use the email subject:

“LAW ENFORCEMENT REQUEST – [Agency name and reference number]”

Requests should be sent from an official government or law-enforcement email address and should include:

  • The requesting agency’s full name
  • The requesting officer’s full name, position and identification or badge number
  • Official contact details
  • The investigation or case-reference number
  • The relevant legal authority supporting the request
  • A copy of any applicable court order, warrant, notice or other legal process
  • A clear description of the information requested
  • The relevant Sakinah Spouse account identifiers, such as the user’s name, email address or telephone number
  • The relevant date range
  • The requested response deadline
  • The officer’s signature or official authorisation where applicable

Sakinah Spouse may request additional information where necessary to verify the identity and authority of the requesting official.

3.

Review of requests

Sakinah Spouse reviews each request individually. Before disclosing information, we may:

  • Verify the identity and authority of the requesting agency or officer
  • Assess whether the request has a valid and appropriate legal basis
  • Check whether the request is sufficiently clear and specific
  • Consider whether the requested disclosure is necessary and proportionate
  • Seek clarification or additional legal documentation
  • Reject requests that are incomplete, overly broad, unlawful or submitted by an unauthorised person

Submitting a request does not guarantee that information will be disclosed. Sakinah Spouse will disclose only information that it is legally permitted or required to provide.

Requests from authorities outside the United Kingdom may require appropriate legal process recognised under UK law.

4.

Emergency requests

An emergency request may be submitted where there is a genuine and immediate risk of death, serious physical injury, child sexual exploitation or another serious threat to a person’s safety.

Email:

helpsakinahspouse@gmail.com

Use the subject:

“EMERGENCY LAW ENFORCEMENT REQUEST”

The request must include:

  • The nature of the emergency
  • The person believed to be at risk
  • Why the risk is considered immediate
  • The specific information required
  • How the requested information may prevent the harm
  • The requesting officer’s official details and direct contact number
  • The relevant case or incident-reference number

Emergency requests will be prioritised, but submitting an emergency request does not remove the need for appropriate legal authority. Sakinah Spouse may disclose information without delay where disclosure is lawful, necessary and proportionate to prevent death or serious harm.

If there is an immediate danger in the United Kingdom, contact the emergency services by calling 999. This email address is not a replacement for contacting emergency services.

5.

Preservation requests

Authorised law-enforcement agencies may request the preservation of specified account information while obtaining the required legal process.

A preservation request must clearly identify:

  • The relevant account
  • The information to be preserved
  • The relevant date range
  • The investigation or case-reference number
  • The legal basis for the request
  • The requested preservation period

Preservation does not mean that the information will automatically be disclosed. Appropriate legal authority may still be required before disclosure.

6.

Information that may be available

Depending on what Sakinah Spouse holds and what it is legally permitted or required to disclose, account information may include:

  • Registration and account details
  • Profile information
  • Login or account activity records
  • Reports and moderation records
  • Relevant communications or transaction records

Sakinah Spouse cannot provide information that it does not hold. The availability of information will depend on the circumstances, applicable retention periods and legal requirements.

7.

User notification

Where legally permitted and appropriate, Sakinah Spouse may notify a user that their information has been requested.

Notification may be delayed or withheld where prohibited by law, a valid legal order, or where notification could endanger someone, prejudice an investigation or create another serious risk.

8.

Data protection and confidentiality

Law-enforcement requests and related personal information will be handled securely and confidentially. Any disclosure will be limited to information that is lawful, necessary and proportionate.

Sakinah Spouse may arrange a more secure method for transmitting sensitive documents or information where required.
